Latvia’s company’s are very successful in the manufacturing of various wooden products – ideas and resources are aplenty. However only a few of them have become success stories. “Woodheart” is definitely one of them. The company has only been part of the incubator for one year, but its team has grown from 6 to 13 people. The factory has become twice as large – now the equipment fills an 800 square meter large facility. How did that happen? The answer is provided by the company founder, Tālis Grīnbergs: “For 10 years I was the head of carpentry. After that I decided to create my own company – window and design furniture manufacturing. Many clients from my previous workplace came to me. I joined the LIAA, countryside support and ALTUM support programs. However the basis of successful entrepreneurship is the confidence about your business, persistence and knowledge to implement it. The second success factor is your team.”
The “Woodheart” company makes everything out of wood. Tālis admits that he would rather focus on larger orders, which is why he would like to apply for a grant that LIAA offers to its INK clients. Currently their equipment is close to being maximally used, which is why they would need additional equipment. Additionally, the plan is to gain the main certification in the wood manufacturing industry – CE and FSC – in order to think about more stable export. The most valuable aspect of PINK and INK – the opportunity to learn about marketing, cashflow, as well as finding mentors and financial support.
To start something new in your life, you need to step out of your comfort zone and have to do things that you don’t know how to and that possibly scare you.
Of course it’s difficult. It has to be difficult. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it.
Failure will never be able to kill as many dreams as fear and inaction will.
